Summary: The Dark Ages were no fun place to be. Especially if you were a woman. All those horrid witch trials can attest to that. But when Matthew Hopkins isn’t around, you've got the bloody judge to worry about.

History: The year is 1685, and there is dissention and war surrounding the countryside. But both the innocent and the guilty are united by one true fear; that of Lord Chief Justice Jeffreys, a fanatic judge who's known for sentencing men and women (mostly women) to grisly torture and death based on the flimsiest of evidence. It's no wonder he's the guy nobody likes.

Notable Kills: None. That's what executioners are for.

Final Fate: Jeffreys' reign of terror could have lasted forever...but then William of Orange came around to usurp the throne and instigate the Glorious Revolution, and his first course of action was getting the bloody judge executed for his rampant miscarriage of justice. Jeffreys would have been hanged, had he not succumbed to kidney failure while in jail.

Powers/Abilities: None

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 2.5-Having Christopher Lee sentence you to torture and death is pretty nasty, but ultimately, Jeffreys' power only extended to his political ties. Cut one, and he comes undone. Good riddance.

Trivia: -Judge Jeffreys, much like Matthew Hopkins, was a real historical figure, often known as "The Hanging Judge", and was known for his bias and borderline sycophantic devotion to King James II.

-This entire film is based off Jeffreys' infamous involvement in the Bloody Assizes event. In 1685, Jeffreys sentenced at least 700 people to their deaths for alleged treason, though some argue it was King James II's tyranny that made it so cruel.
